19th Century Ceramic Grand Tour Amphora

Description

Decorated with red, gold and cream on black ground. The lip with guilloch pattern, the shoulder with guilloch pattern over palmettes to a pair of gilt foliated rams head handles. The main scene on the body with female charioteer wearing a wreath and driving a quadriga, the opposite side with Southern Italian style portrait of a female wearing a saccos.
