Description
This work is a tapestry of high quality kimono obi made by skilled Japanese craftsmen and repurposed as Art without compromising its beauty. Magnificent nature such as oceans, mountains, and clouds are carefully embroidered with gold thread, gold leaf, and fine silk.
This gorgeous obi, with its vivid colors, is also decorated with chrysanthemums, pine trees, autumn leaves, and other patterns that remind us of the four seasons in Japan.
The chrysanthemums embroidered on this obi are a wish for “good health”. In addition, pine trees have been loved since ancient times as a symbol of “longevity” because they keep their beautiful deep green color even in cold winters.
Above all, the distinctive pattern of this obi is the clouds embroidered with beautiful light blue silk. Clouds are said to be the abode of dragons and gods, and are believed to be omens (auspicious omens) of good things to come. This is why cloud patterns have been used as a pattern for kimonos for congratulatory purposes.
Please enjoy the tapestry, which is filled with wishes for “good health” and “long life” and also has the meaning of “good omen”.
